Thank you for visiting the official website of Southern California Mapua Alumni (SCMA) Association.
SCMA was established in 1977 with the objective of unifying alumni of the Mapua Institute of Technology within Southern California. More details of our history will be posted soon.
The Vision of SCMA is to cultivate leadership among its Officers and Members, unification of its alumni through social and civic functions, promotion of special projects such as the building center, offering EIT and PE-EE review classes, and to provide financial assistance in the form of scholarship grants to deserving students at the Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines and soon to dependents of SCMA members in California.
I trust that this message finds you in good spirits. It is with great humility that I accept the privilege and responsibility of guiding Southern California Mapua Alumni Association through 2011-2012.
It is an exciting time for our Association as I examine our core business and reflect on how we are doing. Our objectives and purposes as defined in our constitution are:
1. To promote fraternal feelings among our members.
2. To support the members in their continued legacy in furthering themselves in their chosen profession.
3. To encourage and assist underprivileged but deserving young men and women in their pursuit of a degree in engineering and related studies.
4. To extend assistance to victims of natural disasters.
5. To cultivate honor and respect for the association and its members by directing public attention to its achievements.
Well, how are we doing?
The association provides scholarship grants to selected underprivileged students of the Mapua Institute of Technology each school year. In addition, we are aiming to provide scholarship grants to deserving SCMA family members in Southern California.
In this regard, I would like to encourage your active involvement and participation in all of our activities. I welcome with open arms new members who wish to join us in fulfilling our mission.
Thanks to the Executive Board, Board of Directors, Board of Advisers and all Members for their time and effort in overcoming all the challenges that comes along the way. Thank you for your unselfish support and generosity.
